Finding the right lawyer is not another complication.
Colorado residents work hard to make ends meet, whether it is in an office or a restaurant. Regardless of the type of job one does, they do not expect to get injured performing tasks related to their employment. But, the reality is that every job carries inherent dangers, even those that seem relatively harmless. Therefore, it may come as a surprise that wrist injuries are a big problem for baristas. In fact, the injury can become so severe that it can keep workers sidelined for more than a year.
Barista Wrist, as it is commonly known in the restaurant industry, is a form of repetitive stress injury. A recent report analyzed 84,000 claims between the years 2013 and 2017 and found that Barista Wrist results in an average loss of 366 days of work.
Café and coffee shop workers have the highest number of lost time in workers’ compensation claims. In fact, they lose 45% more time than all other restaurant types. On average, restaurant workers miss about a month of work for injuries related to their jobs. Restaurant injuries generally rise in summer months, with July being the highest month for claims in 2017.
People do not expect to go to work and get injured on the job, but it is a reality many people across the state face if they are doing their job well. An injured worker may not be aware that they have the right to file a workers’ compensation claim and receive compensation for both wages lost and medical bills.
