Head-on collision leads to serious injuries, one fatality

Many people in the Denver area know that times around certain holidays – such as the recent Independence Day holiday – can be dangerous on the roads. States and municipalities throughout the country carry out public awareness campaigns to get people to recognize the need to drive safely during these times. That was the case in a recent collision on July 3 in Commerce City. According to reports, the driver and passenger died at the scene when their vehicle crossed the median of Interstate 76 and slammed head-on into a truck. The reports indicate that there were three people in the pickup truck that was struck. All three reportedly suffered serious injuries from the head-on collision and were transported for medical care.

When a vehicle crosses the center divider like the vehicle did in this case, fault for the accident is almost automatically assumed. However, despite the seemingly obvious nature of where fault should be assigned in this auto accident, a thorough investigation was underway in the immediate aftermath of the wreck.
